Edward - Paul Bridger
Paul Bridger is a Kent-based Actor and Playwright with previous credits, including Captive Hearts, Homeless Comforts and Idolatry, having all received five-star reviews in London. Edward’s Talk - What’s Driving You sees an exciting first Faversham Fringe collaboration with Blueberry Goose Theatre Group. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Director - Andrew Bruce-Lockhart
Andrew is a film and theatre writer/director and the AD at Blueberry Goose Theatre Group. He performed Edward's Talk - What's Driving You at the Ed Fringe 24, his first time as an actor, as a devised piece with no script, as his slightly odd brain doesn't allow him to learn lines. With the assistance of director Julia Stubbs Hughes, they developed that show as a non-scripted piece.
This new re-imagined version of the show at the Faversham Fringe is a stripped-back, no-tech, scripted interactive show, with actor Paul Bridger, that Blueberry Goose Theatre Group plans to take into schools as an educational piece to try and help new drivers be safer on the road.
Writer - A G Anderson - is a playwright based in southeast England, with several plays to their name. Andrew and AG met on Twitter a few years ago. This is A G's third collaboration with Blueberry Goose Theatre Group. The first, Detachment, a ten-minute drama shot in lockdown and featured in theSpace's 1st online season during the cancelled EdFringe of 2019, picked up an OffWestEnd, OnComm nomination. It can be found here. The second, ★★★★ show 1:2:2192 Retribution Day, premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2022.
Anderson said: “When I devised the piece, I originally conceived it as a straight talk on speed awareness. I remembered the content of my speed awareness course so vividly and felt it should be something every driver hears.
“When I spoke about the idea of the piece to a director and actor friends I have worked with, they suggested a ‘but what if’ scenario that immediately appealed to me. What if the narrator of said talk is unreliable? And so, this show was born.”
The Play
Edward's Talk - What’s Driving You?
Edward (never Ted) has delivered his talk on speed awareness 2191 times over the last 10 years. Today, it’s not quite going to plan.
A new, interactive drama about the impact of speed on your driving and how what happens in your life will have consequences when you get behind the wheel. Inspired by real speed awareness courses, the piece uses the vehicle of a talk about the effects of speeding on our lives as a background against which Edward’s struggles play out.
Featuring audience participation and involvement in observation tasks and speeding facts and figures, the talk may encourage you to, as Edward says, "drive like it matters".
You can even check out Ted’s website HERE.
Reviews for previous Blueberry Goose Theatre Group productions
★★★★ “They would often look out into the crowd and in the close (passionate) space it felt like peering into your soul, which was all this play was about” Mumbletheatre.net on 1:2:2192 Retribution Day
★★★★ “Talking about God is never easy, especially if you don’t want to fall into clichés or judgments or hurt somebody’s conscience. God 2.0 is a courageous play that accomplishes all this” Londontheatrereviews.co.uk on God 2.0
